Three Years On, Clinical Trial Follow-Up Confirms That Immunotherapy Can Become Effective Again in Cancer Patients

"Long-term follow-up has demonstrated the effectiveness of blocking the GDF-15 protein with the monoclonal antibody visugromab in 15% to 20% of patients with advanced cancers who were no longer responding to conventional immunotherapy and had no other therapeutic options available. This is the main finding of an international study sponsored by the German pharmaceutical company CatalYm, led by the Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CCUN) and involving several Spanish hospitals."

The results achieved by SENSORFIT-4HEART confirm the effectiveness of a physical exercise programme and a remote monitoring platform in improving functional capacity and quality of life among patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. These findings were presented by the consortium led by Navarrabiomed-Miguel Servet Foundation, which brought together Navarra University Hospital, Cima Universidad de Navarra, the technology centre NAITEC, the companies Lorpeland and 540, as well as ADItech, in a multidisciplinary partnership combining clinical and biomedical research with technological development. The project was co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through Navarra's ERDF 2021-2027 Programme, and by the Department of Industry and of Business Ecological and Digital Transition through its 2023-2026 call for strategic R&D projects, which awarded funding of EUR 1.14 million.
